I have a feeling that 3-wheeled vehicles are going to be the future of road transportation.
Smaller, cheaper, 3-wheeled personal vehicles.

They tip over way too easily. They banned the sale of 3 wheel ATVs in the US in 1988. I can't imagine a top heavy piece of shit like that wouldn't spend at least half it's life on it's side.

Were already seeing these come into their own as a way to skirt stringent safety regs by being classed as a motorcycle. As soon as someone decides to make a hyper efficient hybrid/electric one, then they’ll take off and the government will subsequently ruin them.

These are becoming popular around here. They're electric, thus completely silent and rather slow, I've never seen one go over 50km/h. Some people use them naked like in pic related purely for cargo purposes, or they put a light fairing on top and turn them into little campers for their families and such. I wish all cars would be replaced with these, and electric scooters for single passenger rides.

Things that stand on 3 legs/wheels are much more stable than things standing on 4. The problem with rickshaws is that they have such a small floor profile compared to their height. Top heaviness is the problem

I looked into three wheeling because I wanted a motorbike but not one that was liable to getting toppled by cracks or debris or oil spills on the road.

Problem with three wheelers is they can't turn fast - cars can because they have stability and traction, bikes can because they lean in, but three wheelers get neither of these benefits.

The more stable version is the tadpole configuration like the CanAm Spyder, it turns better and doesnt topple as much.

But I dont see a significant efficiency improvement. If you want an effective machine-weight per payload-weight ratio, you should just go to 2 wheels.

It's more about attracting people who might otherwise drive a 4-wheeled car.
If you make a 3-wheeled alternative that's smaller, cheaper, and easier to store/park, people will be less likely to use a car.

I just want more affordable personal transportation lads, good luck to Toyota with their 3 wheeler cars.
There is no need to ride around in some huge 4 person car by yourself on your daily commute.

One of the main problems is that some startups make these awesome personal transport vehicles and make them cost over 3x as much as a decent normal car.

Toyota for example trials by membership rental/sharing as an MaaS, also cooperating with railway companies (public organizations and governments too perhaps). That's easier than making you buy one.
