I passed a huge pack of Unracers™ yesterday, they were all wearing perfectly "eclectic" apparel, all suspiciously different. Like cutoff denim shorts, flannel wrapped around their waists, carefully selected non-athletic sneakers, oh and canvas rolls, waxed cotton panniers, and the bikes had expensive leather everywhere and a variety of Nitto™ and Velo Orange™ contact points. Lots of tattoos. Needless to say every last one of them was white. And no tans. Like yesterday was their first time outside all year.
I don't know if they were on a guided ride or what, I've never seen such a large, coordinated group, was it one of those
Meetup.com kind of deals? Even the roadies who go out on their coordinated Sunday Ride™ like a bunch of gossipy sorority girls don't have that many people.
I instantly thought of this thread and the guy who always talks about how riding $7000 worth of Unracer™ and "not for cyclists! I Hate cyclists! I wear a heavy and uncomfortable helmet for people who hates bikes, just like you and me!" kit is for "people with friends".
Is Unracing™ like some sort of social network now? Like going to a comic-con or a furry convention, but for smug neoliberal YIMBY assholes who think razing a long established community and replacing it with Orange Theory and Bikram Yoga studios makes them progressive?
