Go on boat, idk, swim, before telling bullshit like "muh cars and muh planes, please use filthy bus and train, oh, yeah, don't travel too".
Reducing energy required for heating, for example, is way easier, than banning cars and planes. You literally add layer of rockwool on your shitty house and enjoy AC and heat at half of the cost.
As for banning planes, it is twice as retarded, because they are just 5-15% (different sources) of all transportation emissions, which is fucking nothing, compared to 40% of car emissions, or 40% of truck emissions.
Speaking about car emissions, Toyota Prius with one driver, average hybrid shitbox, has lower CO2 emissions, than 1/4 full bus.
For me it is obvious what they need to do. Make people buy fuel efficient cars over SUVs.
This will have significant impact, and it will not cause inconveniences. Remember CFC craze? They did a phaseout of them, which was somewhat painless. This was practical.
For ex.
VW Tiguan (just random car I got after searching for SUV). 140 g CO2 / km.
Toyota Prius. 70 g CO2/ km. Two fucking times less emissions, than SUV.
Small shitbox like VW Polo, is 100 g CO2/ km, still significant difference.
Or diesel shitbox, they are even lower, since engines tend to be more efficient, than gasoline ones.
And in future, once somebody really smart will figure a way to make really good battery with minimal environmental impact, replace those with EVs, which tend to be more efficient and can be charged from roof solar panel.
Second option, new modes of transportation. If you don't have rain in city, you can use electric kick scooter or e-bike. Speeds are actually comparable to car in traffic. Since it doesn't weight a fuck ton, it is more efficient.
Public transportation? Fuck it. I don't care how much it is better for environment.
