I ordered it on Amazon based on a single comment by some probably nutjob on mtbr. The cables do run smooth but I'm not sure how much the lube contributes. Also Teflon definitely causes cancer don't get it in your hands or let drip in your floor imho

Practically all modern bike cables and housing are both coated in teflon, and designed to be used with no lubricant. Teflon based bike oil is also extremely common and I guarantee your bike shop has it

Nah. Thinning it will only allow it stretch more and dampen the feel.

Use motorcycle clutch cable and housing. Basically it's the 2mm steel cable from home depot or just get it cut and soldered at any MC mod shop. It's designed for much heavier pull, thus is less stretchy and smoother movement. Will be harder to route and bend though. Especially rear.
