I liked my communal dining experience. I'm Amtrak's strawman millennial and was happy to talk to some boomers about our other travel experiences. Sure, the food is expensive for flyovers, but I was personally thinking it could have been worse. I don't actually have much of anything to complain about its quality, based on that one experience. If you're that worried about sharing a table, then eat in the cafe, but trains are ultimately a shared experience, and socializing can turn out good or bad.
