Okay you guys, I'm going to be spending some money and time in getting myself one of these third party pedal assists, but I don't want shit.

I'd love to buy an actual pedal assist bike but to be on par with what I have I'd be out $5,000. I wish to god they'd just sell me the frame with a battery/motor/computer but that's not what bike manufacturers sell.

I want to budget something like 1,500, and I'm really hoping for something that can compete with the quality of installed pedal assists like shimano or bosch.

I commute 16 miles a day and I beat the bus with the exception of strong headwinds, but take it on lazy days. pedal assist would eliminate the bus for me 100%, then I'd just be a slow car without a trunk or a girlfriend.
