Regulations:

TMGs are also rather efficient towing planes and share that niche with ultralights.
Getting the TMG licence as a gliding pilot is also rather simple IIRC

I'm not complaining about the nature of the regulation, I'm complaining about the abuse of terminology. If it has mechanical thrust, it's not a glider. It might glide, but should be precluded from calling itself a "glider".

So the ASH 31 Mi I posted, designed to glide, climb in thermals and ride the wave but also has a retractable engine is not a glider?
If you take a look at the priorities of that plane you clearly see it was never designed to fly much under its own power.
The engine for example is a tiny 294 ccm rotary engine with a 16L gas tank.

I`m not going much into the details, but our TMG is less loud than our winch, even from distance.
At that little power the prop isn`t reving as high and the tips don`t realy rech transsonic speeds.
You barely even hear it when the engine turns on 250-300m directly above you.

Concorde was just a noisy plane, designed in 1960, when computers were a luxury, and slide ruler was way to go.
I'm 200% sure, if they make concord-ish plane in 2019, it would be quieter and more efficient.

If you can stay airborn unpowered indefinitely, that should be sufficient to qualify as a glider even if you carry an engine to get airborn. Try that with a 747.
