Wanting to upgrade my MTB to a fully. Only problem is, I fucking hate the 2020 color options, and thats when I'll have enough money to actually get the shits.

I've contemplated using a chemical peeler on a $3,500+ bike, but I really ain't fucking sure about it.

Anyone sprayed their own frame here before? Some experience would be gladly taken. Thanks /n/

lol don't buy a NEW bike with paint you don't love.
A factory paint job is better than anything you could possibly do.
How many fucken bike manufacturers are there? Be patient. Surely there's something out there for you.

That being said if you did want to paint or strip a frame it's not that expensive to get it professionally done and you'll do an awful job yourself with no experience and limited tools

I'll leave you on a positive note with one last nice looking 2020 bike, the long travel reign 29. Giant is known more for copying than for inventing, but this raw finish is one of their signature styles from the early 2000s. I think it still looks good today.

i bought a lapierre spicy team carbon with a colour scheme i did not love. paid 8500USD for it and have accepted that any bike with a black base colour scheme will look good. im glad i didnt get a lollipop coloured bike.

Had a friend who was a bike weight freak, and he removed the paint from an old Cannondale to shed weight from the bike.

Beware that aluminum tubing has inconsistent (splotchy) appearance when unpainted.

Any bike made past 2010 has a fairly proper geometry. Suspension hasn't gotten any better as well. Shop around.

Look for aluminium powder coating companies. Most will strip the existing finish too. Probably limited to monochrome paint schemes though.
