>>1399122>The purpose of unracer culture is to make cycling seem nonthreatening to people from a cager culture that considers the act of riding a bike inherently weird and therefore aggressiveCycling has always been nonthreatening to normies. I think the modern industry is to blame which overidealizes a sporty image which makes some people uncomfortable.
Yet pro cycling became some doped up, super elite and ultra conservative crapshit which also makes people wanting to stay away from that image.
Unracers saying its dumb to ride against the clock for fun is the other extreme for me. I mean, do what like, do what gets you most from cycling, do stuff thats fun for you. Saying you need bibs or the other way around saying don't ride the clock is both narrow minded.
We need people to ignore stupid industrie marketing memes and ride for the fun again, no matter what that looks like for the individual.
>UGH why can't someone make a good old fashioned antique PRACTICAL bike?I wish it is like that in my place. Here we got an army of overweight old hogs on e-bikes (and e-mtbs) in full lycra with gloves trying to sniff their farts.
Hell I got yelled at by these fuckers because I'm easily faster on my piece of shit 3-speed commuter.
90% of MTB owners never go on trails or in terrain that would require this type of bike. They buy MTBs because they are so sick, technical and beefy lookin and the market enforces this image. Compare it to the SUV phenomenon. SUV owners don't go to rough terrain. They just want a massiv lookin vehicle.
