I don't know if anyone's done it from Portugal, but people certainly have from London. There was a railtour that did so once (around twenty years ago IIRC)

It is, of course, a series of train journeys rather than a single train journey; there are multiple breaks of gauge.

Does anyone know how to even spell the various Options? Seems like the stupid screenshot points to Ho-Chi-Min City/Saigon, but DB can't find anything for the most obvious spellings.
So I'd just go to Beijing, that's easier to find. Also, just 3 train changes, that's pretty neat.

Late reply, but DB only has RZD as a data source east of Europe, so you won't find anything outside of the former USSR and the trains that go there/come from there.

Prolly because 1520 is too close to 1435, less than 10 centimetres. Too little space between the two rails, and switches too complex or even impossible.

Most places where different gauges "meet" are stations where there is no actual rail connection between the railways serving it.
