But there is a 'click->shift' that is almost instant in all groups I ever tested ( which is a freaking lot ) - all the way from alivio/2300 to saint/ultegra.
In all honesty - the best, smoothest and effortless combo I ever had was a Low-Normal saint rear mech ( 800 series ) coupled to a 9 speed altus cassette and slx shifter.
What I meant to convey in the first post is - all shimano offerings operate on the principle of click+mesh with HG ramp and that is common in their entire product lineup. There are minute changes how that is percieved, because short lever throw, zero loss shifter feels crisper then a classic one with long lever throw ( like saint vs deore ).
What I point to is all those people who try to convince me that "buy xtr, you get faster shifting". That is bollocks.
