bar ends longer than 100 mm tend to interfere with three finger V brake levers
and will not clear four finger levers for caliper brake and 90 degree cantilever
also because they are mounted further back they can be placed at a lower angle
+ this reduces the amount of rotational stress on the handle bar and bar end clamp
another thing to note is that most 80s and 90s bar ends are angled 15 degrees toe in
its because of how long the stems were, as they place the handle bars anywhere between 120 and 180 mm ahead of the top of the steering tube
