What kind of puncture repair kits do y’all carry?

Spare tubes because patching on the road is a pain in the ass.

Now and then after a puncture, you also get a pinch flat as the tire pressure drops. So now you have punctures in 2 locations on the tube and if you don't notice that you might have the tire back on and only notice it after you inflated the tube and have to immediately fix another flat. If you use CO2 instead of a pump, you might also be screwed.

Tip-Top patches ( 20 or so pcs in several sizes ) + glue and a good pump. Also a spare tube where I expect a pucture (especially a pinch flat).

Why so many? Roaming through goathead country?

Over here: a small set of the tip tops with ~6 patches when new, tire levers, small pump. Spare tube only on long trips because weight.

I just carry them as spares all the time in the "Standard toolkit" i carry with me ( along with tire levers, multitool and several quick links ). Whenever I drop below 10, I just refill them up to 20 or so. They weigh pretty much nothing, and I've been in a situation where I used up 6 or so in a single week.

My bike shop stopped selling patches and glue in favor of selling adhesive patches, saying that they're better and easier. Are these guys just blowing smoke at me, or are they actually right?

I didn't have much success with patches with adhesives. Maybe they changed recently, but when I tried them, they always managed to find a way to undo themselves during initial pumping up.

My repair kit is autistic tier and obsessed since I ride for a living. 10k+ km almost all urban with glass, nails, and construction staples everywhere. I use Rubino Pro Endurance (heavy ass puncture resistant graphmeme tires), carry an unpatched tube (used to carry 2, haven't repacked my tool kit with another good tube), Performance Bike (RIP) patch kit, Park Tool patch kit, Park Tool preglued patch kit, and a bunch of small sand papers, amazon overseas generic patches (5x5 page), and rubber cement. I've almost exhausted the 5x5 page of generic patches before going puncture resistant tires.

Don't get me started on my EDC bike tool kit...

Sounds bullshit to me, there haven't been any new strides in adhesives since hospitals started using liquid stitches years ago. Compare prices. There's a fair chance they're just selling cheapie adhesives for full kit prices.

I carry a few patches, sandpaper and glue in an altoids tin. Tires are covered by mr tuffy tire liners, so I only had to deal with a puncture twice in the last 3 years, a nail that cut the side of the tube and a pin that hammered its way through the liner.

My flat-prevention system is these plus not-garbage tires+tubes. Haven't had a single flat since I started using them 4 years ago and I stopped bothering to carry patching shit a couple years ago.

I've been through dozens of the park ones and they have always worked to some extent and gotten me home. the worst i've ever had is that they have a slow leak down to like 60psi overnight and generally they work flawlessly and i don't replace the tube.

I think they are good and it's down to user error and possibly climate, although it's pretty damn humid here and i'm fine.

They're full of shit. The adhesives on those patches are weak as shit and they rarely give a complete seal. The self-adhesive kits are cheaper for the shop to buy in bulk for like 5 cents per and then sell to you for the same price as the patch kits that don't suck.

After trial and error I find that the best choice is to carry an extra tube and just carry the patch kit if you get a second flat. I carry co2 but frame pump is just as fine of a choice. I prefer switching tubes rather than patching tubes on the side because you can do a better job patching it at home.

Sometimes I admit to just being hella lazy and calling neutral support aka my girlfriend to pick me up then bribing her with a trip to coffee bar for a muffin and some joe.

someone stole it and then a month or so later i got my drivers license so i didnt really give a shit

I find slick tires are more prone to flats. With knobby tires the knobs lift the delicate casing above much of the small pieces of glass and metal.

Used to do 80 psi on shitty old tires that were starting to show signs of dry rot and decay. Then I got new tires over the tubes and still put 80 psi in them because it's a road bike.
