Lights come on when you ride, throw light everywhere it needs to be, and stay on for a few minutes when you stop. Nothing to worry about, just part of the vehicle like a motorcycle.
Blinking lights are one of those ideas that sound cool but don't work that well in practice. As others here have said, they attract attention but make it harder to tell exactly where you are and where you're going. They also make people hate you, so that might be a plus or minus for you depending.
Reflectors are good and you should have several, but they rely on a cars headlights for the light they reflect. They don't do anything at all when you're not right in the headlight beam, so you need your own powered light source.
