why have a rear derailleur ?
you could have a pinion gearbox and a rohloff speed hub if it so pleased you
shimanos first rear derailleur (three speed) was made to be used with an internal gear hub (three speed) but who would do such a thing
perhaps a 3 to 5 kw electric assist is the way forward for bikes that dont consider weight, it seems to be whats coming but the law should catch up to that
