No, OP. Maybe it would have saved my eyebrow that one time, but so would have riding with traffic in the street, instead of wrong way biking on the sidewalk as an inexperienced rider
But it would not have unbroken my collar bone a year ago, it would have not unblacked my eye and uncracked my sternum before that when cars hit me.
Helmets only save you from your own mistakes.
It's not as safe to ride helmetless, but so long as I'm sober, I'm gonna take it. (I'd also wear one in a close group ride)
