The New York Subway has way too many stops

No.1419578 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I cannot understand how a rapid transit service (or three) that was built to serve New York City can be so time consuming. Local trains have to stop like every third of a mile which is way too much.

The 1 train has three intermediate stops between 34th and 14th Streets, a distance of less than a mile. The trains literally stop every quarter mile, when a half mile can easily be considered walking distance towards a station. Another problem to me is Courtelyou and Beverley Road stations when the train has not fully left one station when it enters the next. Stopping a train every quarter mile or so is a waste of both time and energy. Closing certain stations would speed up service, save energy and lower maintenance costs for station infrastructure

I think there are a couple closures that could speed up service.
>18th and 28th Streets on the 7th Av Line
>Spring and 28th Streets on the Lex closed
>Courtelyou and Beverley Roads replaced by a new station between those two
>Ave I on the Culver Line
>28th Street on the Broadway Line
>Either Hewes St or Marcy Av on the Jamaica Line
>Intervale Road on the White Plains Road Line
>Elder Avenue on the Pelham Line
>40th and 69th Streets on the Flushing Line
>Either President Street or Nostrand Avenue on the IRT in Brooklyn
Maybe you have a few more proposals of stations that should be closed to speed up service.

also fucking extend 145th Street to ten car platforms already, the space is there.
