>>1421986I don't have any scientific source but from experience riding low profile alu wheels (mavic aksium) and deep section aero carbon wheels (50 mm front and rear AND 88 mm front and rear) I can say that they don't do shit at low speeds.
If I ride at zone 2 watts which is around 230 average on my go to mostly-flat-with-some-hills course my speeds are always in the same range, 31 - 32 km/h. Sometimes a bit less if its super windy and sometimes a bit more if it's low traffic with no wind. I've had rides where the aluminium shit wheels were faster one day than the deep section ones the next day even though both days had the same wind.
Ofc this isn't a good compairison because there are so many parameters that can change from one day to the next but what I'm saying is that if wheels actually made a difference at those speeds I would notice them. And by notice I mean the difference should be more than just 0.25 km/h. It's simply not the case that aero wheels give you 1-3 km/h @ 200 W like those retarded marketing youtube channels like GCN and bike magazines would have you believe.
