>>1425104Useful post; thanks!
>useless when out of batteryDo powered skateboards typically have a freewheel clutch so you can kick them along without spinning the motors? I can see how that would be possible, unlike with the Onewheel, but not sure how practical it would be.
>lower top speedIt's supposed to do 30 kmph. Not sure how much faster I would really want to go on such a precarious contraption anyway! How fast will the high-end skateboards that compete at this price typically go?
>rolling resistanceGood point; I bet that big squishy tire gobbles up the watts!
>reliant on computerYou're always trusting your tools, a skateboard could have an uncommanded acceleration or spontaneous battery fire or something. I'm not Tony Hawk here, if I do have a problem it's probably not going to be the computers fault.
>not easily repairableIt's a slick integrated product where powered skateboards come from a rich heritage of hobbyist experimentation. Are you aware of any anti-consumer DRM bullshit coming from Onewheel, where it's not just hard but harder than it should be to do basic maintenance like battery and sensor swaps? Is the firmware locked down?
