I admit I used to be apprehensive about getting a scooter because I perceived it as a lame kiddie thing. Thankfully, mankind has created a large number of infinitely gayer devices like waveboards, segways, and monos. Scooters are pretty much the perfect relaxed transports urban commuting, offering the portability of longboards and safety and ease of a bicycle. The only downside is that it's not as enjoyable as a longboard, strictly a functional way to get around.
