Which military vehicles are allowed to cross the bridge. The number is the weight class and not the weight in tons (used to harmonize tracked and wheeled vehicles). Double arrows are for bidirectional traffic, single arrows are for single-directional traffic with vehicles being 100 feet apart from each other

Speaking off, there has been a minor traffic sign reform and it has caused just the kind of bikeshedding bonanza that could have been expected.

Though I have to admit, I too dislike the new abstractk stickmen with detachable head. Allegedly it's to improve distinguishability from distance, but I don't really buy it, more like yet another manifestation of the zeigheist. "It's gender neutral now!"

I suppose part of the zeigheist thing was also simply change for the sake of change, from a visual style that had gotten out of fashion to a style that frankly should never have into gotten fashion.

that would actually only mean that the limit with same number ends and that other previous limits over which it took precedence will be reinstated

that one without numbers takes any sign out of effect, so also things like snow chains, minimum speed that where directly imposed by a sign

There used to be a ton of these between the border and Los Angeles, but they've all been taken down. Families who just invaded would run for miles to avoid getting sent home. If you were driving at night there's a good chance you would see them running along/across the freeway.
