WM is the sheistiest waste removal service ever. My parents have a business with their waste contracted to WM. One time my parents' business had an influx of waste, overflowing their bin. WM refused to pick up unless an overflow bill was paid. They sent pictures along with a couple hundred dollar extra bill, it was so BS my parents contracted to FloodBros the same day instead. Monthly fees are now like more than halved as well as no issues with bin overflow.

Anyways, I hate riding behind garbage trucks but I find the logistics of waste services fascinating

Unironically garbage collectors and sanitary workers do more work for society than any other job. They are the ones that should be celebrated not the fucking troops or cops. A clean street will do more to prevent crime than a cop doing 20mph through a residential neighborhood.
I will never ever make fun of anyone with this job because they are the ones that make the world go round.
So if any of my a/n/ons are a sanitation worker, you deserve the best.

I got no beef with them expect for one road where I wish they'd pull over a little more. They pop on their hazards but its like man, on a blind corner for real? Outside of that they do a job I wouldn't want too and make a decent buck while doing so. 30+ hour and full benefits here. Pretty damn good job driving and hauling trash. On a fun note if you have to much trash leave a fiver on your lid if you don't live in a shitty part of town and they'll more often then not look the other way and toss it into the truck. I had way to much kitty litter waste one time and put a fiver, they were happy I am assuming with the tip and they took it without any issues both the cash and the waste.

I consider those robot arm trash trucks to be complete ... well, trash. Surely it is much easier to have the truck manned by two with a second person positioning the garbage can for the pickup, than to have to clear the entire neighborhood of street parked cars on every garbage pickup day and placing the cans precisely at the side of the road so the driver can fumble around with his robot controls to pick them up. Nevermind those Youtube videos where robot arms keep losing grip on the cans and spilling garbage all over the road or dropping the entire bin into the trash compacter.

When I went to Barcelona on vacation I was blown away by their garbage collection system. There were many different sizes of trucks for each given street (even those narrow ass cobblestone alleys). Garbage men were all fair looking middle aged guys, with clean uniforms and a professional demeanor. I even saw one having a croissant and an espresso outside a cafe.
Honestly made me want to become a garbageman myself.

Once a year my city gives you a date where you can put ANY garbage in the alley and they’ll take it. They bring around a special truck that crushes shit into nothing. I put a 8 foot long solid wood couch out there and watched this truck demolish my baby. Shit was badass but i felt sad for my couch. Didnt know they would do him like that ;0(
