>>1439713I am green bike guy. Here's a little writeup in a friendly manner.
Fit is and should be extremely personal while still understanding the actual effects of changing it in any given way
On my bikes I tend to run a lot of drop with less reach and a forward saddle built over a smaller frame.
Not everybody needs to. The guy who wants to comprensate for his long stem by having it higher on the steerer of a larger frame is fine, too.
Bicycles aren't natural and there is literally no fit that doesn't force you to adapt to it. In my case I want my arms beneath my shoulder in their strongest position and more of a 50/50 weight distribution to the front of the bicycle.
Some guys out here are very much the opposite.
Bars same height as their setback and offset saddle. Weight focused over the rear. Long steam and a relatively larger frame (usually up in their junk even with shoes on.). It's just as valid, I suppose, though I think it causes saddle issues. But most cyclists aren't known for their well developed arms to carry their weight like my position forces, so *shrug*.
Ride what's comfortable but don't suppose it's the only thing that works for you or anybody else.
