Are carbon alloy wheels shit tier ?
The Vision Trimax 45 CSI are half price on pretty much every bike webshop in Europe.
400 instead of 800 euros.

The reason you're seeing a lot of formerly fancy wheels going at a deep discount is that the trend is for wider rims to hold wider tires, and also thru axle is replacing QR for road bikes

If you intend to run 23mm QR all the time, then there's no reason not to take advantage. If on the other hand, you don't, then save your money. A deep section rim with an oversize tire negates the aero advantages of the deep section rim

Is rather have rim brakes and allu frame than garbo frame and disks.
Don't want to spend 2k more to offset the 0.5kg in weight for better-wet braking.

What I saw from real life that people buy disk brake bikes and then proceed to ride the brakes on a descend.
They are scared to take corners at speed

There's barely any cost difference between a good rim brake bike and a good disc brake bike these days. What you're probably seeing is the cost difference between a drop bar fitness bike and an entry level road bike like a Canyon Ultimate

If you want to keep the weight the same you need the carbon version of your frame instead of aluminum which doubles the price of your bike
Carbon frame is like 1500More and the disk version of ultegra is like 300-500$ more (depends where you buy)

Disk deep section wheels are the newest meme and are full price 1000-2000$
While rim deep section wheels are 400-800 for wheelset.
Also disk wheels have lighter rims yes, but thicker spokesvand larger spoke count

This. I had a huge boner for carbon wheels and discs for such a long time. If you are buying a new bike go for it, but in terms of upgrading just a wheelset the cost benefit analysis just aint there and carbon rim braking is gay.

I managed to score an incredibe deal on a very well built unsymetrical straight pull sapim cx ray alu wheelset and focused on new calipers and pads and could not be happier. Its gonna cost me thousands to get that extra 5%.

so i have some heavy ass 2kg wheels, been thinking on upgrading for a while. i already have decided i want clinchers with rim brakes. im using 25mm gp's 5000.
ideally i would like some 40mm (50mm max) aero carbon, but legit ones are way too expensive. what do you think of chink ones? avoiding import i can find some generic ones with novatec hubs at a very god price (im in the third world, market here is totally different).
other option would be to get a lower profile alu light rim, kinda like some fulcrums.

my bike is similar to a caad10, its ok but not preemium, so spending 1200usd in wheels when the bike was 800 (barely used at the time) , seems kinda too much.

If it is a choice between full carbon or carbon with alu brake track, you buy the one with the alu brake track. Carbon brake track performance is fucking trash tier in optimal conditions. The only downside is does not look aesthetic.

I run dura-ace carbon 1380's great wheels.

THIS ANON GETS IT! Not only are rim brakes lighter and more efficient but they have to overbuild the front spokes now to cope with all the torque. Plus you get spoke stretch while braking and it leads to trueness issues.

As far as carbon fiber rims - do it! I've had several sets for years now. I'm 250 lbs and destroy alloy rims, and carbons seem to stay true no matter how I land on em.

If you have a 25mm rim get a 25mm tire
gp5000 preferably and find (your) correct pressure front and back
Don't over inflate for muh rolling resistance that's a common mistake.

Also lean and look where you are about to go in a corner don't look at your stem or in front of you or the road below you,
Before a sharp turn brake strong but short don't ride your brakes regardless of the system your using

Well made Chinese wheels like Yoeleo have gone up so much in price that you can literally buy name brand carbon wheels that are on discount for the same money and not get laughed at for running chink wheels
Almost every rim brake carbon wheels are half price atm.
Don't daily ride them keep them for races, strava kom’s and competitions. Train on your current sets

Several things you can do:
- neutral position on the bike hanging on the drops.
- Look through the corner to where you want to exit and not directly in front of you.
- Do your braking before the corner and roll through it. The only time you can brake is on steep descents and only the back break.
- Have good core strength.

A lot of it is just having good bike handling skills, it pretty much becomes second nature.

From other manufacturers they start at 1300-1500€
I mean my first bike is a cheapo endurance bike with microshift R8 but you can't race with a 8 speed 11.3kg bike
It's my winter/gravel bike now
