I have a 30 inch waist
Aero is not terribly important to me regardless, I have endurance geometry. I’m not going to claim aero never matters but it’s far from my top priority despite having a slim body and being a lot fitter than most people. Because going fast doesn’t mean racing. I passed you because you were in the way, I get passed by faster people because I’m in their way. Get over it?

Why don’t you get a job and stop complaining about people who don’t have dumpster dive everything?

Drag only really matters if you're going fast. At low speeds, it scales about proportional to speed squared. More speed -> much more drag

That's just the drag in Newton, not the Watts you need to push.
To get the Watts you need to multiply the drag in Newton times the speed in meters per second.
That results in everything going up even steeper.

Power loss from air resistance is proportional to speed^3 (more precisely: ground speed x air speed^2) and is independent of weight, except indirectly in the sense that fatties might have a bigger frontal area (but otoh are rounder and therefore more aero).

Rolling resistance and gravity are proportional to speed x weight. Rolling resistance is in the neighborhood of 10% of total power loss on a flat surface at any decent speed, so someone who weighs 50 pounds more than you only needs to put out a few percent more power to maintain the same speed. Gravity/hills of course is a whole different story.

Where I live almost everyone has a road bike, it's only poseurs who want to preach about "how they do it in amsterdam" who have anything else. Migrant workers delivering food? 15 year old Allez with flat pedals. Office workers going to the office? All City or Surly with MTB pedals. Sunday ride? Anything goes as long as it's a road bike. Lycra everywhere. Which is completely normal and not something weird or worth getting upset over. Doesn't matter how fat or thin you are, its' just normal.
