>>1453562It's L O N G. Get a tape measure out, check the dimensions, and extend the tape measure to that length. If you live in an apartment or don't have a relatively clear garage it may not actually fit.
If you plan on riding it on the road you need Vee Apache Chief tires or Duro Fleetwood tires which add another 100-200$ onto it as well.
Check if there's one to test ride near you at a surly dealer. Some people don't like how longtail cargo bikes handle, some do. Some don't like how the fat tires feel, some do. It's not something you drop that much money on without consideration because it's a specialty bike and harder to resell. Also check the gear ratio - you are not going to move very fast at all on it. The surly accessories for it are also pricey.
An alternative is a regular Titanium framed fatbike with an axiom fatliner or other rack on it. There's several options.
If you want a fat cargo bike, Luna used to sell the "Rhino" Cargo Fat ebike but they had some QC issues with... I think the fork a couple years ago, and haven't gotten a redesign in yet that I'm aware of. Might find a used one though.
The benefits of the BFD are that you don't need a trailer, it lets you go over more terrain than a trailer would, it can haul a LOT, you can kit it to carry a passenger, and it looks damn cool.
