The metal contacts between the pieces of 9v rail are totally wore out, miraculously my pins that connect the power supply to the rail work fine even with some exposed wiring, but as soon as the motor gets to the next piece of track, the voltage drops off. I'm going to try getting some conductive gel and touching up the contacts.
Secondly there's a lot of cool stuff I would like to do with moving pieces of rail, like having it rotate on top of some gears, but the track pieces can't be disconnected, at all, whereas the plastic ones can have gaps. It also means there's no easy way to have inclines in your track. I say no EASY way, but I have cut some wires to jump the circuit between disconnected pieces.
That bricklink stuff looks cool though, I never had any of 12v, but it had lots of powered signals and stuff that I don't think they made again after going to 9v.
