>>1466847I think the logic is that if you're doing something 'extreme' then you're at risk of being injured or getting lost and needing emergency help, which chokes up the system which is badly strained, and brings you out of your bubble. Even though it's not likely to happen, across an entire population it's statistically an issue.
Which makes sense to me, I just don't see a 30km bike ride as extreme. It's safer now with no traffic on the road. And if i stop riding then i have to start using my asthma inhaler far more often heading into winter and that can't be good for all this.
But then people say, oh, just ride around the block a thousand times and ok sure, but also, fuck that.
A lot of it is just sour grapes, like, why do they get to go outside and have fun when i'm stuck inside and can't use my car.

In NZ especially in the cities the whole cyclist vs anti cyclist thing is pretty toxic.
