>>1468616>>1468645It's not even about road vs MTB shoes. It's more about having comfy shoes. Vast majority of cycling shoes are made with super narrow lasts and it all focuses on "dude this sole is so fucking stiff". And even the wide versions usually don't have any wider last, they just add more volume to the shoe. Width and volume are two completely different things in a shoe.
There are two manufacturers that make cycling shoes with proper attention to last design. Those are Bont and Lake. In his videos he keeps telling how his MTB shoe is so fucking comfy when it's a Bont and they made the exact same fucking shoe with three hole road sole. Literally the only difference between that shoe he raves about and the road version of the same shoe is the cleat interface. The same can be said about most high end MTB shoes, it's the same exact shoe as the road version but with different cleat interface.
So it doesn't matter if you ride MTB or road pedals but getting a shoe that's comfy is what matters. And if you haven't tried Bont or Lake shoes I recommend you do.
I've also never really understood the memes about poor walkability of road shoes. High end MTB shoes are just as stiff and the road cleats don't have that big of an effect in walking as people make it out. The biggest difference is going down a flight of stairs. That shit is outright terrifying in road shoes. Maybe it's just that I have a skiing background and when you're used to walking in stiff race boots then walking in anything else is a breeze.
