There are no worse tread patterns out there tha ardent, it doesn't roll that fast, and it doesn't have decent grip on any surface.
You get tires that roll faster with more grip.
If you prioritize rolling speed and efficiency get on some Vittoria Barzos, they grip better and roll much faster than ardent on any surface.
If you want more grip get something like Minion DHR2 or maybe Magi Mary front and Hans Dampf rear.
Pretty much any decent tire in the 2.3-2.5 range will outperform what you now.
Friends don't let friends ride ardents.
