>>1473982>>1473997The HHP-8s were used on the Northeast Regional. The Northeast Regional is basically the "standard" intercity service on the Northeast Corridor between Boston, NYC and Washington D.C. - it's slower than the Acela Express "high-speed rail", it makes more stops, and uses Amtrak's standard coaches compared to the Acela Express' dedicated HSR trainsets, but it's cheaper. The Northeast Regional was called "Acela Regional" for a while in the 2000s, but that name was dropped when Amtrak presumably realized it was really dumb from a marketing perspective. As others said, Amtrak's HHP-8s were all retired after ~10-15 years in service due to being lemons, and replaced with Amtrak's newest electric locomotive, which was made by Siemens, although some HHP-8s are still used today by MARC, a commuter rail service that runs between Baltimore and Washington D.C. on the Northeast Corridor.
