>>1476889the first thing I notice is that your FD cable is badly frayed
this will make it very hard to adjust as the bolt does not have many strands to hold onto, and will slip under load
when I see a frayed cable I try to avoid loosening it if I can (sorry about that) my first post itt was
>>1476861but in this case the cable is bad enough, and short enough that I would replace it
its only a matter of time before any amount of cable fray can cause problems
big one is crushing the cable too much or too often
the gaps in the strands allow water in and speed up the rust
so when installing new cables use the least amount of force that will still work
and lubricate them with oil where ever they make a sharp turn or are pinched by a bolt or enter and exit a cable housing
cable cutters and ferrules are also very important to avoid frays
>>1476891>if that makes senseyes I have dealt with that problem a bit, its definitely a lack of cable tension
the inner plate / lifting plate of the FD is much closer to the seat post than the gear shift lever is expecting
indexed shifting system makes this more tricky
the movement to shift between gears is further than the distance to hold the derailleur plates such that they dont scrape
when the bike is new the up shifts will happen much closer to the moment that the gear shifter clicks
but as they wear out and get dirty the shift lever needs to be pushed slightly past the click to over shift, and then be released so the derailleur can rest on the clicking point / detent
that is just the up shifts
on the way down is much harder
any rust or grime / dried out lubricant can slow the loosening of the mechanisms
and the cable and derailleur will not move quickly enough or far enough to make accurate down shifts
regular cleaning and use are the only cure for this
