All this article shows is that e-bikers are too lazy to pedal even mediocre distances, and casuals get more "exercise" when allowed to be even lazier. It is indeed cope (and propaganda) because they are using collectivism to pat the individual on the back.

An honest article would read "We Don't Care What You Think About Us" but no... they have to cope.

The cope is the e-bikers incorrectly interpreting the results. Whilst yes e-bikers road further it doesn't mean they are getting more exercise. You are going to get a better work out doing 2km of hill sprints verse 10km of coasting. This is why you look at a normalised marker of physical activity, which is what the study did. What they found is that e-bikers and cyclists had the same amount of physical activity per week. Keep in mind that this study was primarily focused on commuting rather than recreational riding.

e-bikes a retarded. their only use is increasing accessibility to commuting and reducing cager numbers.

i see that you (like most people here) must be spoon-fed everything so here goes (try to keep up): like i said few post earlier i have over a dozen friends owning ebikes, not one acts like an ass described here. not one has an ebike that tries to hide the fact that its an ebike (battery in frame). i dont even understand the term to be honest, cause you can fucking see the motor right away even if its a 250w tiniest thing, or a mid drive. and the fact that companies selling rhem advertise them as a "hidden ebike" does not mean that its the reason why people buy said product. you see a distinction here, people riding ebikes vs people selling ebikes? those are not the same people. this is why i believe every single point anyone made here bitching about ebikes is worthless - my own experience and people making claims without anything to back it up. i can make those too you know. anyone can.

I did two rides over the weekend, one on a roadbike and one on an e-bike.
Both around two hours long.
The roadbike one was in "Tempo" heartrate for most of the two hours - the e-bike was in basically casual walking heartrate, and at the same time around twice the elevation gain.
It really can't compare.

E-bikes are lots of fun, and practical to commute with - but that's pretty much it.
