2. Shinkansen station market
5. I was not specifically talling about the map here, I was just asking wasn't it JR West's plan to connect it that way?
>>1510501>DemandAs I mention they can use shorter trains to offer higher frequency without excessively increasing capacity, if capacity bottleneck didn't exists.
>Road or freight railway mentalityI cannot conment since I am not familiar with eother of them
>How best to continueI mean, sure, there are other part of the network here and there that can use some improvement and extension, like pic related or Hokuriku-Chukyo Shinkansen, or extension of Hokuriku Shinkansen to Kansai airport/Wakayama, extending Kyushu Shinkansen to Miyazaki/Oita/Sasebo aren't bad idea either, or maybe a new branch of Hokuriku from Nagano to Matsumoto and Suwa, or make some new tunnels for Hokuriku Shinkansen through Hida mountains using new technology so that ot can now be another viable alternative to Tokaido Shinkansen, or even extending Tsukuba Express at Shinkansen Construction Standard using Narrow Gauge Shinkansen [Super Limited Expres] concept on the extension section to Iwaki, but that's not the point here
>WhyCurrently, taking the Shinkansen is already the fastest surface transportation if one want to go from Niigata to Osaka/Sendai, etc., despite they have to route through Tokyo/Omiya.
For Shizuoka, it would mean transfer-less direct service to entire Tohoku, Hokuriku, and Hokkaido. Of course Tokyo is still going to be important but what's there not to like to have a wider network that can directly travel to without connection?
