>>1484085>How do you take sharp cornersI think you'd be surprised how far you can lean a bike before you clip a pedal, especially with short cranks. Just try it off the bike, pedal at 6 o'clock then tilt it over.
>>1484288>what's the point of fixies>i'm asking cuz i've never ridden oneI started recently, and other posters have said "fun", which is what I heard all the time. Having tried it for myself, I'd say it's 90% of the joy I had when first learning to ride a bike. "Fun" hits it right on the nose.
>>1487105I'm a long term roadie who built up my first fixed gear a month ago. My city's very hilly, so I used my other two road-ish bikes to figure out an appropriate gear.
My touring bike is 3x10 with a 48 big ring, so I found a comfortable gear and planned to size down 2t in the rear. But that bike's heavy, so I tried a very close ratio on my road bike (2x10 and light), which lead me to size down 3t total in the rear. My fixed gear build ended up being ~71 gear inches, which sounds fairly low, but it suits the terrain.
I've had friends say fixed is "10% more efficient", but it feels like more than that. I use the same shoes and pedals as my road bike (Look Keo), and taking it on familiar loops, I'm awed at how well this bike climbs. I'm not saying that there aren't people grinding their knees to dust, but taken together the various efficiency gains are very noticeable.
>>1487107Very similar to my experience so far.
Unrelated video, something I'd never try.
