why is it shit?, it weighs a lot less than a derailleur and seems like it would make a fixie much more versatile as u can now climb hills

Sounds like overkill to have an internally geared hub for only 2 gears. Seriously, derailleurs are great; you should try them.

everybike i own has a derailleur on it and I just used one 20 minutes ago before arriving home, seeing I have no key and having to take a ladder from the garden to climb through an open window. why is it overkill? its simply a rear hub, and fixies dont have derailleurs anyway!

Derailleurs are easy and cheap and I have 11 times more gearing selections than that thing. Probably my biggest complaint about fixed gears/single speeds is the massive gain ratio compromise made. Not to mention you don't have to lace up a special rear hub wheel.

yes obviously derailleurs have more gearing selections than this but the entire point is to use this to upgrade a fixie and make that bit more versatile and ofc you arent going to put a derailluer on a fixie

I don't think you actually understand what that thing is, or you don't know what a fixie is.

Useless, I had it on my bike and every time I was coasting it shifted gears when I didn't want to. Single speed is better instead of having a shitty 2-speed system.

Pick only one.
You can actually get fixed gear gear hubs as a very special order, but they use a regular cable actuator to shift. There's nothing wrong with kickshift, they give you a bit more range with a cleaner look, but you have to ask yourself if you really fit into the tiny niche they serve.
