>>1486777>TiresI cant recommend any specific tires but 2.1 inch tires were fairly common as a maximum size for that type and age of bike
the chain stays have a dent in them to make room for this and the v brakes should have a curved section so that they avoid touching the tires
>derailleurs and shifters seem to work but they're really crunchyyea the every pivot and cable will have dryed out, gotta give them a bit of oil especaly the inside of the cable houseings
>interested in switching from grip shift to thumb levers.gripshift is kind of heavy compared to revoshift
for indexed systems grime and wear are a big problem due to the detents or ratchet and pawl being so small and fine
its worse with twist shifters as they often dont have much leverage over the risistance provided by the derailleur springs and cable houseings
>>1486780tires with thin sidewalls were kind of a meme in the 90s
the bike allready has a set on with exposed canvas
>>1486795>Triggers make sensena im triggered by them they wear out too easy and it really pays to know what you are looking at, some are solid and will last forever others are hot garbage - see most brifters
the same goes for thumb shifters but the diffrence in durabilty between a good and bad thumb shifter is not as pronouced
some good shift triggers are
st ef29 - altho the little plastic window on them is not uv stable
st ef28 - about the oldest st that will still work with v brakes
sl R440 - heheheh
but alot of the newer shimano stuff still works
>19mm internal widthaccording to the charts you can fit 2.5 inch wide tires on that ;)
but the limit is really the frame
and the rim brakes if you tried to fit a wider rim
>>1486811>when this stops being worth it.when the frame and maybe the fork are the only OG parts left
