> Of course they do, but do you NEED XTR Di2? Do you NEED carbon bars/stem/crankarms?Depends, do you want performance and are you prepared to pay for it. Pretty much any upgrade is going to increase a bikes performance. Electronic shifting is going to give you the snappiest shifting possible. Carbon bars are going to reduce the weight of a bike and (in my experience) dampen the vibrations. Light weight stem is going to reduce the weight of the bike further. Carbon crank arms will reduce the rotational mass when pedaling, which will increase your efficiency.
> No, you're paying significantly more for barely noticeable bump in performanceOn my previous bike, a norco range A2 (full alu), I went from the stock alu wheels to a carbon set. It cost $1200 AUD for something that was functionally the same. However, the wheel dampen vibrations better made the handling noticeably more nimble, which was great for a 29ner enduro bike. I now ride the carbon version of the range with carbon handle bars and a light weight stem, the bike is so nimble now. Also, have you tried an after market dropper lever? If not, do yourself a favour and grab a Wolf Tooth Remote, it makes the lever feel buttery smooth.
> Besides, you can get last year's brand new Trek Slash 9.9 for under $6k right nowYo do realise that bike comes with carbon cranks, handle bars, and wheels?
