>>1496909We're going in circles now. I've already addressed that.
Lets say you ride like you're visible. You follow all the road rules, and behave courteously.
But you expect everyone else on the road to be able to see you, and to also follow the road rules and behave courteously.
Then you get hit because actually very very often drivers don't notice or think about cyclists.
There's no maliciousness. You weren't putting yourself in harms way. You just operated under the false assumption that people on the road see you because you're not invisible.
I think your argument up till now has been that even in a car, you should leave a margin of error and be prepared for eventualities, which is absolutely true. But most people don't. Most people don't leave a safe following distance for example. Just following the rules and being courteous in a car is by and large enough to keep you safe.
I think it's uniquely the case for cyclists that this idea applies.
And the confounding thing is the fact that many drivers don't believe cyclists belong on the road, and that infrastructure is largely not really well designed for cyclists. That's as far as 'murderous intent' goes. Actual murderous intent isn't the issue. I've never encountered it. So stop strawmanning me. I don't know how many times I have to say it.
Now you're giving some good advice, but that's the crux of it.
And the reason i sperged out is not that you think i'm the reason people hate cyclists.
But that you think that people who hate cyclists have good cause to do so. They generally don't. It's largely just cunts. I don't cager-post and I don't think it's relevant really in the world any more than drivers with 'murderous intent'. So don't be like that.
