Climate change becomes a bigger issue every year, especially as the summer get hotter and more places flood.

We've got a lot of rail projects in the works now and we'll probably keep getting more.
Protected bike lanes are good though if transit ridership decreases.

The ideal state is being able to enjoy the full richness of life without needing to travel.
And people may still go outside for exercise and recreation- they wouldn't travel out of NECESSITY.

I totally agree. That's why I like the idea of mixed-use neighborhoods with all amenities nearby.
Humans naturally gravitate towards such neighborhoods and had been building htem for thousands of years until mid-20th century America, when zoning fucked it up.

It is impossible for the legislation and initiatives needed to alleviate climate change to happen in a representative democracy. No politician on either side would willingly vote to dismantle their constituents' suburban developments and cancerous megacities, and they would rather get reamed by non-recyclable wind turbine blades before approving any new nuclear power stations.

the US has 7.3% electricity generated by wind power.
It's not insignificant at all.
Boosting that and reducing the (frankly pathetic) over 50% reliance on gas and coal would be a good thing, regardless of your stance on nuclear power.
