Why isn't high speed freight rail a thing? How fast does it have to go to outweigh the cost?

No one wants it, there used to be high speed mail services but almost everywhere has stopped them.

People who have a small amount of high speed cargo can use a van which is much cheaper or air which is much faster.

With just-in-time logistics the speed isn't important, but reliability, punctuality and cost is. Also rail freight is mainly bulk goods, which means that both producers and consumers likely have large stockpiles. They don't need a high-speed service.

We have way, way fewer tunnels than they do. Idk how heavy their mainline rail is but I presume it would be heavy enough for double stacks (which aren't "heavy" trains really but compared to European freight they probably are.)
