Is this a burger thing? I have never seen tires like this in physical shops here in Europe.

therefore, buyfags who want to throw money at "problems" invented by marketing departments decided that the roads in their area are uniquely terrible and that everyone NEEDS to be riding on soft monster truck tires. this has been amplified by the anti-cycling people who embraced grabble, which is for cagers who think bikes don't belong on roads, but still want to partake in this new bike trend

tl;dr there are no benefits, just ride normal 700x28

This is a good example of a supple Tyre
It has an extremely comfortable ride, it's quality made, not using thick rubber or excessive puncture protection.

The difference between pic related and a marathon+, or a gatorskin, in the same size is absolute night and day in terms of ride quality and comfort. Having switched between the two, I think even the difference between gp4k and gp5k in suppleness is tangible.
You'll also find that supple tyres tend to also have by far the best grip as they're expensive and aimed at people riding limits which require good grip.

Supple meme grabel tyres are just roadie logic but extended towards gravel riding.
It's pretty widely accepted that buying pic related is smart. .

supple = low weight = speed

and roadies actually do want comfort, because they ride long miles over rough country roads and fatigue is a serious issue. High end road bikes, for what they are, are very comfortable. And high end road tyres are supple tyres.

yes they're road tyres but that's what i'm saying. Road tyres ARE supple and have excellent grip and minimal puncture protection. Supple gravel meme tyres are the same thing as road tyres, except bigger and with a slightly less autistic focus on rolling resistance. There's even overlap with 28 & 32mm itterations of tyres.

Nigga just stop. I puncture like once in 10 000 km on supple road tires. Just take the tubeless pill and you don't have to worry about punctures. Supple tires make the bike much more comfortable which is important when you're spending hours on the bike every day.

Nigga, on average I puncture my tubeless motorbike tyres every year, and it only goes over asphalt. There is people throwing nails onto the roads.

I've got nails so often that I finally became good at repairing tyres with rub plugs. This also forced me to check the pressure for little losses more often. Big losses I could tell with my ass alone.

And this keeps happening even though I never ride on the dirty shoulder unless cages are really jammed.

I work in a typical bike shop and personally really like riding those fancy "supple" tires but there's no way we'd ever stock them - most customers think $30-40 for a crappy CST or Sunlite tire is "expensive" and the number of people who come into a retail shop looking for high end road tires is already very small, so putting a tire that would end up with a retail price of over $100 a piece would make no sense whatsoever... I suppose we could bring in a couple to display in order to make the less expensive tires seem like a relative bargain, like how liquor stores like to display $5000 crystal decanters of really old liquor though.

Supple tires are faster and are more compliant for a given width. All top end racing tires are made from supple casings, even MTB tires. Supple tires can make you up to ~1-2mph faster depending on what tires you started out with.

Wide supple slicks are a new thing because wide slicks were considered the domain of cruisers, utility, hybrid, touring bikes, not performance bikes. They became a thing because audax/gravel people became willing to spend money on race quality tires, but suited to non-race riding. Previously race quality tires were only really made for bikes that were raced and people imitating racers (road and MTB). Life is too short to waste on gatorskins or worse in terms of suppleness if you ride recreationally.
