One than has multiple uses.

I always put them on, they stop the valve from rattling in the rim. Downside is, if you don't screw them on tight, they cause even more rattle.

The Continental ones have a lip on one side to fit into rims drilled for schrader valves. So the only bike I use them on is my mountain bike to keep dirt out of the hole.

but seriously, what do you expect me to say to that? It happened to me and putting the nut on solved the problem. You can go google "valve stem rattle" and you'll find tons of people with the same problem.

they used to be fairly cheep to get in $1 stores before they were banned by the police
a shame about the watch batterys tho button cells still available in mega packs
maybe power them with a tiny wind mill/impeller
some of the lager spoke lights are powered by two AAA battery's
and others are powered directly from the hub
