so it's 2020
Some asshole decided to make electric bicycles Big with 'pedal assist' and brands followed.
adds 10-20 lbs to bike
costs 100-300% more than original model
completely disregards a real demographic (poor? Frugal cheap enviro conscious hipster etc)
makes unskilled bored rich people into E-freds
Frame nearly incompatible with aftermarket
How bout this, I get a fucking $200 cordless brushless drill and attach it to my rear tire. Lithium ion is lithium ion.
The reason I'm pissed is because all I ever wanted was a little boost to get me back up to my natural cadence, say when I have to stop at a light/sign. I don't need pedal assist and I've been commuting 16 miles a day for nearly a decade.
I know a cordless drill can't compete with a real pedal assist power output, maybe the smaller models, but my concept isn't pedal assist, it's boost to cadence.
