Yeah but what selection? The more tire sizes you introduce, the fewer brands can be bothered to produce tires for a certain size. It's already hard enough for brands to cover all the different 26s and 27.5s and 28s and 29s and road bikes and gravel bikes and touring bikes and mountain bikes and fat bikes all the same, a lot of tire models you can only get a few very particular sizes.

They should have thought about that before they introduced all these marketing gimmicks. 26" amd 28" were completly enough. Nobody really needs 27.5 and 29 nonsense.

Funny that you mention that because 27.5" and 29" are just French 26" and 28" but with fat tires,
Either way the situation is nowhere as bad as it was at one point with the likes of Schwinn churning out proprietary sizes and every other country in Europe having their own versions of roughly the same sizes.
