while you do need to run a caloric deficit, you also need to have enough energy to process the food you eat + drink plenty of water / electrolytes
for a while I've been living off quinoa with red lentils and rice along with a little bit of chicken or beef + what ever random vegetables and fruits are cheep
but once you start working out enough the foods you feel like eating change
mostly its bland but a little more filling
