>>1530832>>1530988If you do some research you'll discover the 26 is actually better than the 55. The 55's only real advantage is lower weight. There are many forum posts out there talking about how the cup on the 55s don't give proper support for the rest of the BB and its not only due to the cup itself but also due to the threading. I don't remember the exact details, it was 2 years ago I read about this.
The cup being plastic on the 26 does suck of course, and in that sense the material of the cup is inferior to the 55's, but you can replace it with a metal cup from some other non-Shimano BB. That's what I did, bought a 26 and threw away the plastic cup and used the old metal cup from the old BB (some unknown brand).
