>>1548526Generaly speaking, I noticed drivers passing with more distance the further in the middle I ride.
It's not realy making a difference for them anyway as they would have to drive into another lane anyway since:
>recommend distance from the edge of a road is 1 m>my most narrow bike is ~40 cm>minimum passing distance is 1,5 mThat adds up to 2,9 m.
Now a car including mirrors is rarely narrower than 2,1 m.
2,1+2,9=5
Most roads aren't that wide, but there is more:
Next to parked cars cyclists are supposed to keep a 1,5 m safety distance and outside of settlements the minimum passing distance is 2 m, so it's 5,5 m in most cases, assuming a roadbike of 40 cm and a car of 210 cm.
Now keep in mind that MTBs for example are usualy 70-80 cm wide and many cars are wider than 210 cm, meaning that about 6 m aren't rare either.
So why not ride in the middle of the road if it doesn't make any different for drivers around you besides them see you better while lowering you chance of getting doored and dealing with less debris
