For everyone posting in this thread that dont know:
A 3x8 drive train is made to keep your chain straight, to prevent grindy shifts and wearing out your cogs and chain. You are intended to have only 9 to 11 different gears. Not 24. You can think of the drive train like a big rig semi truck, and how it's different from a manual car. In a truck you don't go from 1 to 24 or downshift from 24 to 1. You can start out in gear 6 on a semi and skip gears, unlike a manual car.
On a bike, you are supposed to shift like this:
Left gears (front) Right gears (Rear)
1 --------------------------------------1-3
2----------------------------------------2-5
3----------------------------------------3-8
>>1533105Why would you need to spend the money if you know how to use the old gears? Only people that race should care about a 1x9 for weight. Plus, have they engineered the drivetrain to not shift grindy or drop chains, or wear out fast? Because it's retarded to waste money if you aren't a racer.
