The USS Macon & USS Akron were designed as flying aircraft carriers carrying Sparrowhawk biplane scouts, the idea was the airship would accompany a naval battlegroup and could zoom around launching Sparrowhawks to scout around for enemy ships. There's no reason you can't do this with a conventional aircraft carrier.
The only thing i could see being useful is a large UAV that barfs out smaller UAVs. Like imagine we're hunting ISIS: The Next Generation in Syria. We send in a UAV Carrier. A big 737 size UAV that houses dozens of smaller UAVs. As the UAV carrier spots potential targets of interest, it launches a smaller UAV to reconnoiter that target. As it cruises the battlefield over hours it launches more UAVs to investigate more targets.
It seems like it would be useful.
